Every innovation needs space to grow. Croatian electric hypercar manufacturer Rimac Automobili is expanding its production and research capabilities with a modern campus. Two Palfinger PK 165.002 TEC 7 F cranes with a PJ 300 fly-jib and a PJM020 (MFA-Jib) helped on the construction site to complete the job with their incredible reach and lifting capacity.
Numerous cranes and work platforms are at work on the construction site of the future Rimac Automobili campus, but two red cranes stand out for their height and flexibility: two PALFINGER PK 165.002 TEC 7 cranes. On a construction site of as much as 95,000 m2, the two Palfinger cranes extend to an astonishing 45 meters.
Challenge management
“With our flj-jibs we have a greater reach. Today, for example, we loaded 25 tm at an average height of 36 meters, which we would not have been able to do without Palfinger cranes.” Explain crane operators Vladimir Šimunić and Ivan Gerić from the company MI Hršak . With 24 years of experience in the production and installation of steel roofs, the Krapina-based company was hired to install roof profiles in Rimac Automobili’s new production and research facilities.
The task was to install 4,500 kg of roof panels over a 75,000 m² hall. Installation was quick and easy thanks to two PALFINGER PK 165.002 TEC 7 F cranes with a PJ 300 fly-jib and a PJM020 mechanical fly-jib mounted on MAN TGS 41.420 8×4 BB trucks. This demanding truck superstructure is designed and manufactured by the general representative of Palfinger for Croatia, the company PK-Palfinger Kran doo
When maximum flexibility is key
On construction sites, space is usually tight and the conditions on the construction site present the greatest challenges. Vladimir and Ivan used the winch to quickly secure and lift the sheet metal panels. The winch has a cable of 95 meters and a load capacity of 4,500 kg. During the assembly of the steel structure and roof panels, the AOS ( Active Oscillation Suppression ) and HPSC ( High Performance Stability Control ) options were used. On the other hand, the P-fold function in combination with RTC ( Rope Tension Control ) was used primarily so that the truck could quickly change its location on the construction site. With just one function on the remote control, the crane can be folded or unfolded, without moving the cable in the meantime. “In demanding conditions, flexibility is the key,” add Ivan and Vladimir with a broad smile. Innovative cranes have proven to be the perfect match for an innovative space under construction.
