Palfinger PK 165.002 TEC7 and platform for Trgometal

Trgometal from Žminj has strengthened its “fleet” with one of the most powerful truck-mounted folding cranes, the Palfinger PK 165.002 TEC7 model. The crane is mounted on a five-axle Scania 660 R V8.

The Trgometal company from Žminj is engaged in the production and assembly of steel equipment, specialized transport, construction machinery services, and obtaining permits for extraordinary transport and technical escort of cargo. The company was founded back in 1991. as a follower of a locksmith shop that had been operating since 1981. as a manufacturer of agricultural equipment and metal structures. Today, the company employs more than 150 employees of various professions.

Their “passion” for large Palfinger cranes began in 2017. when they purchased the first Palfinger crane PK 165.002 TEC7 on a four-axle chassis, which, due to the increase in the scope of work, was insufficient to perform all the tasks. This year they decided to purchase a second Palfinger crane, the PK 165.002 TEC7, this time on a five-axle Scania 660 R V8.

The long-term cooperation between PK – Palfinger Kran and Scania Croatia has resulted in a successful upgrade to a five-axle Scania 660 R V8 for Trgometal doo. The Scania R series offers a unique combination of luxury and functionality. From the outside, vehicles from this series overcome all road conditions, while inside they provide top comfort, visibility and easy management. Durable and versatile, the R Series is perfectly suited to the demands of life on the road.

Scania chassis provide outstanding handling and stability when it comes to upgrades. They can be adjusted to increase load capacity without reducing performance. In close cooperation with body manufacturers, Scania designs precise and profitable solutions for various industrial applications. All Scania chassis come fully prepared for the desired type of bodywork, and the flexibility of the modular system allows for fine-tuning of even the smallest details, such as adjustments for stabilizers, bumpers and factory-installed electrical preparations with standard components, which brings high efficiency and usability.

The Palfinger PK 165.002 TEC7 crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 32 t and is equipped with 8 hydraulic extensions and an additional articulated arm or fly-jib model PJ240E that reaches a maximum of 31.1 m. The crane has a built-in Power link plus system, which allows the auxiliary arm to be extended at a negative angle of 15⁰, which makes it easier to transfer loads through narrow openings or work inside buildings.

The supplied crane has a hydraulically foldable fly-jib or an additional articulated arm with a reach of 31.1 m. A hydraulic winch with a cable length of 90 m is also mounted on the crane, which is automatically wound and unwound when the crane is operated. The crane has a built-in P-fold system which, in case of activation, helps the operator in unfolding/folding the crane, i.e. speeds up work and prevents possible damage to the equipment. The crane and stabilizers are controlled by the user-friendly PALcom P7 radio control. This is the most modern radio control system on the market, which was completely designed by Palfinger engineers. Another important function of the crane is the Soft Stop system, which prevents the crane from stopping suddenly. When stopping the telescope extraction operation, the system regulates the stop in such a way that it does not stop immediately, but gradually, which ensures less vibration and safer manipulation of the load.

Among the many Palfinger crane options that contribute to efficiency, safety and comfort, the AOS (Active Oscillation Suppression) option can be singled out for mitigating crane boom oscillations during sudden control interruptions or direction changes, HPSC (High Performance Stability Control) for working with the crane in areas where it is not possible to extend the stabilizers to the maximum, and the SRC option (Syncronised Rope Control) which speeds up work with the winch in such a way as to keep a constant distance between the hook and the end of the crane. In addition to the above, the crane has the WEIGHT option, which allows the load to be weighed using the crane, i.e. the weight of the load being manipulated can be displayed on the LCD screen of the PALcom P7 remote control at any time.

In addition to the crane, a cargo box with internal dimensions of 4800x2420x400 mm with the possibility of hydraulic telescoping for an additional 2000 mm is mounted on the truck. The edge profile of the box is designed with 45° openings for securing cargo. The truck body and crane have 16 work lights that make it easier for the operator to move around the truck and work in night conditions.
